Helping your Guineas cope with fireworks.
Some indoor guinea kept guineas cope well with fireworks as they're used to lots of different noises but some guineas can find the flashes of light and the different bangs and whistles very stressful.
Here's some tips to help keep them comfortable.
Classic FM have calming pet music playing on Bonfire night but if your guineas are used to hearing other types of music that can help to. Rhythmic music is also good. If your guinea isn't used to hearing music or the TV make sure it isn't too loud.
Lots of hay gives them somewhere extra to snuggle into and can muffle sounds and light. Big big piles!
Closing windows, curtains and blinds can help reduce bright lights and flashes. The top of the cage can be covered with a blanket to help them feel safe.
If your guineas live outdoors piling the hutch with hay is essential or you could bring them indoors temporarily to a quiet room. Guineas don't cope well with big temperature changes and going from cold outdoor temperatures to a heated room can make them ill so make sure the room isn't too warm.
