Rescued guinea pig Brave

Brave

Brave was found by some children and brought to Cavy Corner in June 2021.

On arrival he was critically ill, underweight, filthy with matted hair and unable to use his back legs. Our vet initially thought he had a broken leg however x rays showed he had serious swelling to his joints instead. His prognosis was poor and amputation was considered. Our vet made a splint for his worst affected leg to try support it for, it was the tiniest splint they have ever made for an animal. Brave received round the clock care at Cavy Corner, regular syringe feeds, medication and lots of love from the volunteers.

After months of intensive care and rehabilitation Brave started to show signs of recovery. He started to regain the use of his back legs and started to climb up the cage bars waiting for a treat. He made a good recovery from his horrific ordeal althogh he was left with some leg stiffness and was later bonded with Mokey and the two boars became best buddies.

Brave was an inspiration to so many who followed his story, he even had a comic story made about him by artist Karolina Pierianowicz for Guinea pig Magazine and he won an Animal Star Award in November 2023.
